One thing I can openly admit to is that I am a people pleaser.
My entire life I have sought out the approval of others, and it is something that has led to an unhealthy relationship with anxiety and depression. I have never felt good enough for people, and I don't know if I'll ever fully get over that, but with God on my side to remind me that the only one that matters is Him, and Him alone, I know I'll be just fine.
Why is it that they clap so loud for others, but never for me, God? Why do they always engage in conversation with them, but never with me?
These are questions that run through my mind almost every day. You see, Satan loves nothing more than to creep into your mind and tell you that you'll never be good enough to be appreciated by those people. But honestly, that's the furthest thing from the truth.
One of my favorite sayings of all time is "If God can make a bug's butt light up, what do you think He can do for you?"
I laugh every time I read it, or say it, because it's so true. When it comes to anxiety, there's positively nothing that God can't do to help me overcome it, especially when it comes to feeling like I'm not good enough.
God will put people in your life that will constantly remind you how special you are to them. People that honor your friendship. People that will uplift you when you feel like you're in the deepest of valleys.
Cherish those people. Pray for those people. Love those people.
I thank God every day for those that take my anxiety away. For the ones that allow me to focus on everything I'm doing right. Thank you Lord, for allowing me to embrace my battle with anxiety and for giving me the courage to not care what people think or say about me. Thank you for reminding me that the only approval I need, is yours. Because the only one that truly matters, is you.
Lord, I come to you right now to ask that you bless the person who took the time to read this. I ask that you comfort them in whatever battle they may be trying to navigate, whether it be mental, emotional, or physical. Give them peace and strength to overcome the battle they're facing. While it may feel like they're in the deepest, darkest trenches of their life, remind them that you are there, and all they have to do is call on you. Their battle belongs to you, Lord. Remind them that they are loved, and that you are listening every second of every day, and that you have provided them at least one person who loves them for who they were made them to be. Remind them that their self-worth is not determined by how many friends they have, or how many people approve of their character. Their self-worth was paid in full when you sent your son to die on the cross for us so that we could be saved. Lord, I thank you for this person's beautiful spirit and I ask that whatever they are facing, that you meet their need.
I give you the honor and the glory in everything. Lord, I ask all these things in your precious, holy name. Amen.
